Love Your Napster Playlist and Don't Want to Lose it?
With the arrival of Ruckus digital media entertainment at Penn State this fall, University students will have the ability to legally download millions of tracks of music, as well as full-feature films, action sports clips, and music videos. But the switch to Ruckus has also generated a number of questions regarding how students can best preserve (and continue to use) tracks and playlists they've built via Napster, and other music services. Penn State has recently compiled a list of tips on how to preserve former playlists and perform track conversions quickly and easily. To learn more, follow the steps outlined in the following guidelines:
Make a Copy of Your Napster Playlists
E-mail them to yourself, so you'll always have them! For those of you who are switching from Napster to Ruckus, and who want to save your playlists, follow these simple steps:
- From your Napster library window, expand the "My Playlist" Folder.
- Right click on the playlist you want to e-mail to yourself.
- Choose "Send Playlist" and then fill out the form that pops-up, using an e-mail address (or multiple e-mail addresses), where you can keep the playlist for later reference. (Please note, the playlist won't play tracks, rather just serve as a list of what songs were included on it.)
Once you have the e-mailed copy of your list, you can use it to know which tracks to re-download using Ruckus.

For users who would like to have a list of all of the tracks in their Napster library, please follow these instructions:
- Within your Napster library window, choose "All Music."
- Highlight all, or whichever tracks that you would like to be able to have a reference of.
- Once those tracks are highlighted, right click on them and choose "Send Track(s)" then fill out the form that pops-up, using a single e-mail address (or multiple e-mail addresses), where you can keep the list for later reference. (Please note, the list won't play tracks, but rather just serves as a record of what songs were included on it.)
Once you have the e-mailed copy of your music list, you can use it as a reference for which tracks to re-download using Ruckus.
